Grande Albergo Alfeo

The rooms are spacious, high ceilings, lovely bed, good air con. Lovely small balcony. The breakfast is very good and the little courtyard setting is idyllic for breakfast. There is always someone at reception too. I did see a review saying coffee wasn't great but we loved it. The choice at the breakfast buffet will suit all. We had teenagers with us too. The staff are lovely though, a real family feel to the stay. There are lovely little swimming spots around Syracuse and we tried all of them! The town is truly beautiful.

The hotel was excellent. We decided not to stay on Ortigia itself but the hotel was a x5 minute walk to the island & situated in a very nice part of Siracusa. The walk from the train station to the hotel with our luggage was 10-15 minutes, very easy. Our quadruple room was spacious with comfortable beds & excellent air-conditioning. Everything is spotlessly clean. The fresh complimentary lemon granita in the lounge area is very welcome & the hotel has a lovely lobby & outside courtyard, as well as an outside seating area in front of the entrance. We were particularly impressed with the breakfast & it being served from 7.00am-10.30am made it relaxing & enjoyable. You can eat inside or outside in the courtyard, lovely. The selection of food is excellent with bacon, scrambled eggs, cold meats being continuously refreshed. Our breakfast coffees were made on demand, no vending machines. There is fresh fruit, cereals, toast, pastries...a very generous selection with plenty of friendly & welcoming staff on hand to assist. I would highly recommend the hotel.....the staff are professional & friendly and for us, being near but not in Ortigia, with its many tourists, was ideal.

Location of the hotel is perfect, a few minutes away from Ortigia island. The interbus station is also 7-8 minutes by walking. There are plenty of shops and restaurants around the hotel. Staff was very polite and helpful. We arrived early in the morning and they provided us with complimentary early check-in as our room was ready. Breakfast is very nice as well. Great variety of pastries, fruits, cheeses and Italian charcuterie.

On arrival we were upgraded into a very comfortable corner suite with sitting area and spacious bedroom. The hotel is an older building that has been carefully maintained and is well decorated. It’s on the “mainland” part of Siracusa, not the island of Ortigia. There are several good, small restaurants nearby.

Grande Albergo Alfeo has great location - lot of popular tourist attractions are in walking distance (Ortigia island, Neapolis Archaeological park) and great choice of dining facilities. If you arrived here by car - there are great parking place (Parling Syracusa 15eiro / 24h) located just in 5 min walking distance. If you are interested in 'Hop on - hop off" excursions - starting piont is located same direction as Syracusa Parking, very close to hotel. Staff - very proffesional, heplful and polite. Always ready to help. Room was spacy. Comfortable beds. Breakfast buffet was really good for Sicily - continental breakfast, not only italian style breakfast. Great choice for nice stay!
